GRE stands for Graduate Record Examinations, which is owned and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS). It is a standardized test that is an enrollment requirement for most graduate schools in the United States and Canada. The main purpose of this test is to enroll for post graduates as well as doctoral degree programs in various universities. GRE score can be used for MBA programs as well in some colleges and universities.

The structure of GRE consist of: Verbal section, Quantitative section, Analytical writing section and Experimental section. The full length of GMAT test is around 3 hour and 45 minutes. One minute break is offered after each segment and a 10-minute break after the third section. The test is scored on a scale of 0 to 170 points on each sections: Verbal and Quantitative, this makes the total score 340.The scoring is done as:
~ Analytical writing: 0.0 to 6.0 (in 0.5-point increments)
~ Verbal reasoning: 130 to 170 (in 1-point increments)
~ Quantitative reasoning: 130 to 170 (in 1-point increments)

 

GRE is flexible in terms of test dates and results are available online after two weeks of test date. It’s score is valid for five years from the test date.
